Chemical Dependency Counselor(CASAC)
Job Description:
The Counselor is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies for client change utilizing individual and group counseling as the major tools to assist the individual's growth in the intra-personal, interpersonal and social development areas. As the primary counselor in a multi-discipline treatment setting, the Counselor must be attuned, aware and informed as to program member participation and progress in other aspects e.g. medical, social services, educational vocational and activities, external referrals, etc.
Major Functions And Responsibilities:
- Prepares and submits required case recordings and other written reports on schedule.
- Participates in weekly case conferences, including the Medical Review Team (MRT).
- Participates in unit meetings.
- Participates in in-house and external training experiences.
- Participates in supervision sessions.
- Assesses the strengths, skills and growth areas of assigned clients, and formulates intervention plans for each client.
- Implements each client's current intervention plan.
- Conducts group intervention sessions for caseload.
- Conducts individual intervention sessions with those on assigned caseload
- Provides orientation for clients regarding Reality House structure, policies and procedures
- Provides orientation for clients regarding Reality House structure, policies and procedures
- Monitors and collects the urine samples of assigned clients.
- Secure of maintain Credentialed Substance Abuse Counselor status.
- Carry out special assignment(s) as requested by supervisor, for agency enhancement and/or individual professional growth.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: CASAC or Qualified Health
Professional
- Bachelors Degree in Behavioral or Social Sciences and one (1) year experience in drug rehabilitation or related service delivery system.

- Associates Degree in Behavioral or Social Sciences and two (2) year’s experience in substance abuse treatment or related service delivery system

- High School Diploma and three (3) years paid experience in drug rehabilitation or related service delivery system.
- Bachelors Degree in Behavioral or Social Sciences and one (1) year experience in drug rehabilitation or related service delivery system.

- Associates Degree in Behavioral or Social Sciences and two (2) year’s experience in substance abuse treatment or related service delivery system

- High School Diploma and three (3) years paid experience in drug rehabilitation or related service delivery system.
